Veterinary Ophthalmologists exclusively treat eye conditions and problems in pets. To achieve their board certification they must complete years of specialized training including a degree in Veterinary Medicine and a residency in Ophthalmology at an approved residency facility. In addition, Veterinary Ophthalmologists complete a rigorous course of examinations at the completion of their studies that tests their knowledge of general medicine relating to eyes, diagnostics and surgical skills.
